HKNIC - Our Shareholders and Business

Our Shareholders and Business
Hong Kong Nuclear Investment Company Limited or HKNIC, founded in 1983, is an investor in the Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company, Limited, which owns the Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station - commonly known as Daya Bay - in China's Guangdong province.

The power station is managed and operated by the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations & Management Company, Limited (DNMC).

HKNIC and DNMC are respectively a subsidiary and an investment of CLP Holdings (CLP), a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

CLP has nominated key managerial positions at Daya Bay and DNMC to contribute towards nuclear safety and to support the management of the facilities to international levels.

Enhancing the Public's Understanding of Nuclear Power

Since 1994, HKNIC has been organising educational programmes and tours, with the aim of enhancing the knowledge of nuclear power and the role Daya Bay plays in supplying clean, non-carbon emitting power to Hong Kong. More than 20,000 high school students and other visitors have visited the power station since 1994. In addition, information and data on this website give a high degree of transparency about the operation of the power station.
