Capability Factor of a power station measures how well it performs. Expressed in percentage, the figure indicates to what extent a plant is able to generate electricity at its full capacity. At the turn of the 21st century, typical world top quartile performance in capability factor is at 90% and median performance is above 85% for a nuclear power station of the same kind as Daya Bay. The figures include the duration for plant outage to conduct refuelling and maintenance.

Unit 2
1. [APR] Unit 2 is on annual outage for overhaul and refueling since 4 April 1995
2. [MAY] Having passed all the re-qualification tests with satisfactory results, China's NNSA granted the approval to restart Unit 2. The Unit was connected to the transmission network on 20 May and had reached full power on 26 May.
3. [DEC] Unit 2 is on outage for scheduled refuelling and overhaul since 21 December 1995

2. [FEB to APR] Unit 2 was reconnected to the grid on 9 April after completing its refuelling and overhaul, and reached full power on 14 April

1. [JAN] Unit 2 completed an annual refuelling and overhaul at the end of December 1999 and was reconnected to the grid on 1 January 2000 upon grid request. It reached full power on 5 January 2000.
2. [NOV] Unit 2 is on outage for a planned annual refuelling and overhaul since 22 November 2000.
3. [DEC] Unit 2 was reconnected to the grid on 28 December 2000 after completing an annual refuelling and overhaul. It reached full power on 3 January 2001.
1. [DEC] Unit 2 was on outage for a planned annual refuelling and overhaul since 10 December 2001. The unit was reconnected to the grid on 10 January 2002 after completing the annual refuelling and overhaul. It reached full power on 15 January 2002.
1. [JAN] Unit 2 was reconnected to the grid on 10 January 2002 after completing an annual refuelling and overhaul. It reached full power on 15 January 2002.
2. [MAR to MAY] Unit 2 underwent an outage since 27 March 2002 to maintain conventional island equipment. Work was completed and Unit 2 was reconnected to the grid on 5 May 2002.
1. [JAN] Unit 2 is on outage for a planned annual refuelling and overhaul since 26 January 2003.
2. [FEB and MAR] Unit 2 was reconnected to the grid on 18 March 2003 after completing the annual refuelling and overhaul. It reached full power on 22 March 2003.
1. [APR to JUN] Unit 2 is on outage for a planned refuelling and overhaul which began on 24 April 2004. The outage was extended because of an equipment problem during outage, described under "Licensing Operational Events".
2. [JUL] Unit 2 was reconnected to the grid on 24 July 2004 after completing its outage for a planned refuelling and overhaul. It reached full power on 29 July 2004.
1. [SEP] Unit 2 was on outage for a planned refuelling and overhaul which began on 26 September 2005.
2. [OCT to DEC] Unit 2 was reconnected to the grid on 5 December 2005 after completing its outage for a planned refuelling and overhaul. It reached full power on 12 December 2005.

1. [APR and MAY] Unit 2 began an outage for planned refuelling and overhaul on 27 April 2007, and was reconnected to the grid on 31 May 2007 after completing the outage. It reached full power on 6 June 2007.
1. [NOV] Unit 2 completed a planned refuelling and overhaul which began on 1 November 2008, and was connected to the grid on 1 December 2008, reaching full power on 6 December 2008.

[December] Unit 2 was reconnected to the grid on 3 January 2015 after completing its outage for planned refuelling and overhaul. It reached full power on 8 January 2015.
[January] Unit 2 was reconnected to the grid on 3 January 2015 after completing its outage for planned refuelling and overhaul. It reached full power on 8 January 2015.

* [April] Unit 2 was disconnected from the grid on 15 April 2015, to begin planned refuelling and overhaul activities.

* [May] Unit 2 was reconnected to the grid on 28 May 2016 after completing its outage for planned refuelling and overhaul.  It reached full power on 4 June 2016.
