Although the risk of a nuclear accident affecting the public is very low, it is prudent to plan for an emergency at a nuclear power station for the protection of the public. Accordingly, plans are prepared for different levels of emergency and appropriate levels of response are devised. There is a system in place to notify Hong Kong, which in addition has its own radiation monitoring network to detect an anomaly.
